Here's what's true today, in short. The full walkthrough is coming; until then this links to the real reference docs.

An instance is an editable, re-runnable copy of one recording: method, path, body and header overrides, kept separate from the read-only original. Headers resolve captured < shared < override, credentials are masked and encrypted at rest, and a run has a 120-second limit with results kept for the latest 20 runs.
